Notes for providers, sock puppet workshop
Running Time – 1 hour. If we have 1.5 hours in each class we can also do sock puppetry demonstrations and meet their puppet characters.
Number of workshops possible in one school day – 4, If timetable flexible.
Maximum number of participants – single class
Ideal age of class – reception- year 2
Set up time –30 minutes
Space required – We prefer to work in the same room all day if possible so that we can do the maximum number of workshops with the minimum of set-up time. A classroom, art room or the hall is fine. We require at least three large tables (or groups of tables) to put materials on. No chairs are required (it is ok if there are chairs there but we will ask children to sit on the floor while listening to instructions and they can work without chairs) We also need a table and at least two chairs near a plug socket for the glue guns.
Parent/staff help required – teaching staff must be present, additional help from parents or volunteers to man the glue guns is really brilliant as it greatly reduces waiting time for the children and allows more time for artistic creativity. Ideally at least two extra helpers, the more the merrier.
