Notes for providers, muppet workshop:

Running Time –Ideally all day with a class size group.

It may be possible to break the workshop into 3 two hour classes over different days.

Number of workshops possible in one school day – 1

Maximum number of participants – single class

Ideal age of children – year 5 to year 13 (older children can sew their puppet)

Set up time –30 minutes

Space required – We prefer to work in the same room all day if possible.

A classroom, art room or the hall is fine. We require at least three large tables (or groups of tables) to put materials on. Chairs optional. We also need a table and at least two chairs near a plug socket for the glue guns. Older children can use glue guns themselves so more tables near sockets will be necessary.

Parent/staff help required – teaching staff must be present, additional help from parents or volunteers or key stage 1 and 2 children to man the glue guns is really brilliant as it greatly reduces waiting time for the children and allows more time for artistic creativity. Ideally at least two extra helpers, the more the merrier. Adults can make a muppet alongside their children and this makes for a great parent/child workshop.
